It’s always nice finding a children’s book with meaning and an encouraging lesson, like The Little Parrot and the Angel’s Tears. Local author and illustrator, M. Anu Narasimhan, turned this childhood bedtime story into a sweet and colorful adventure of an insecure, yet brave parrot who helps save his friends from danger. Its story and illustrations are simple enough for a young child to follow, but with enough depth to continue capturing the attention of older children.
The first time I sat and read this book with my kids, their eyes were wide and engaged. They not only listened to the entire story but also learned from the parrot- courage and perseverance have nothing to do with one’s size. “We can do anything!” they proclaimed in their size 3 and 4 footie pajamas. “That’s right,” I told them. And we read it again.
